There's a particular kind of magic in opening a pantry door and seeing everything in its place. Not a magazine-perfect, never-touched kind of place, but a real, lived-in order that makes weeknight dinners feel a little lighter. Here's the weekend reset I come back to again and again.
Start by taking everything out
It feels counterintuitive, but the only way to know what you have is to see all of it at once. Clear a counter, lay down a clean towel, and empty the shelves completely. Wipe down the empty surfaces while you're there.
Group as you go
As things come out, group like with like: baking, breakfast, snacks, grains, cans. You'll instantly spot the three half-empty bags of brown sugar and the pasta you forgot you had.
Tidy isn't about owning less for the sake of it. It's about knowing what you have so you can actually use it.
Decant the everyday staples
The items you reach for daily — flour, oats, rice, pasta — earn a spot in clear, airtight jars. It keeps them fresh, makes it obvious when you're running low, and honestly, it just looks lovely.
Label with kindness
Use simple, readable labels. Future-you, standing in the kitchen at 6pm with hungry kids, will be grateful for a pantry that's easy to read at a glance.
